Bravo nr.37: Our world was falling apart!

They make the world go crazy! Even in the USA countless of girls scream the name of Bill (19), Tom (19), wolfie (19) and Georg (21), and know all the songs of the four Magedburgers by heart. Tokio Hotel are Germany's most succesfull band of the moment. A real export-hit! Everything started for them three years ago. It was a rough start - that's what the boys reveal during there appointment with Bravo in San Francisco/USA. It became a close one, or the band didn't even would excist - No cd's, no music, no videos, no concerts. And that all just because there record company fired them before even one song was released.
"We were so looking forward to our first single - and at our life in the spotlight", Tom tells. "I remember the time that we signed our first record deal", Bill goes on. "We were at a barbeque when the producer came to us with a silver plate. When they took of the top we completely freaked out. It all sounded so cool and awesome. We thought about how cool it might be to have our cd in a store". But it wouldn't come that far. Not a short while after that the record company changed there minds. The creaters didn't believe in the huge talent and unusual style of Tokio Hotel anymore und put the boys right back on the streets. "The was really a hit in the face", Georg explains. "We were four little boys from Magdeburg that thought the world had opened for them and then this. We hit the ground hard". Tom goes on, "We didn't understand how they could have lost faith in us all of a sudden - after they were so statisfied when it came to our band. Our big dream - shattered. It was really sad for us". The boys just stare at the floor: "We asked ourselves what had gone wrong. Maybe we did something wrong" Bill tells. The boys were trying to keep it together and not fal into a black hole. "Especially our team has built us. Each one of us has a crushed dream. We have tried for two and a half years, written songs and recorded them. We just wanted to get out - out on stage". Tom tells, "We were really impatient". Understandable: There album "Schrei" was as good as finished. Only a cd cover was needed. And: "we didn't want some music expert to create some mirror for us. We always have looked this way and had our own style. The people only had to say yes or no". and that happened shortly after that when there record company Universal took the bait. They believed in the potential of the band and were convinced by Bill, Tom, wolfie and Georg. "We were totally happy", about there old record label they can only laugh now: "Looking back i think it is totally amusing cause they cut themselves", Bill smiles. "On every party the people that were against us back then are ignored. That's why some of them have been fired". Georg corrects, "Oh well, one was transfered, that is also a good feeling". Since then three years have passed. "That doesn't sound that long - but to me it feels like my whole life", Bill says. "I can barely remember something else. It's almost like there has never been something else", cause the band tokio hotel is constantly on the road. Every day a new town, every day new people and every day new adventures: "We haven't had a break in a few months. We are constantly on the road and don't have any time to think about it", Tom laughs. "Still, there are moments when we look back and realise: Crazy what has happened in those three years!" That Tokio Hotel are here now conquering the world is something thy can barely believe themselves: "When someone back then would have said we would play a concert in the USA we would have thought he was crazy", bill laughs.
