Number one export: Tokio Hotel
Germany is one of the biggest music market in the world. According to the Music Export Office in Lueneburg the industry made 1,7 million Euros in 2006.
We Germans like our artists and bands from our own country but beyond the borders the popularity sinks drastic.
In foreign countries only those musicians can hold their own, who are not swimming with the mainstream, musicians who are not try to copy english artists and whose songs have rough edges. These are the words of the German Music Export Office, whose target it is to make Germany's musicians more popular in foreign countries.
Actually TH is swimming on the wave of the mainstream but they lead the foreign charts from the Music Export Office anyways.
The four musicians are so successful that they travel from one award show to the next. Comet, Echo, Bambi, Eins live Krone are only be overtrumped from the EMA Award which they won in 2007 as first german band ever.
Since their childhood the boys are working for their success. They formed their first band when they were 11 years old. In the meantime they fill halls between New Jersey and Las Vegas, their songs scale the charts in Canada, France, Poland and Russia. Even in the Middle East the band succeeded. Israeli fans begged so long until TH gave a concert in Tel Aviv.
Allegedly it's thanks to the band that the german language is studied more now around the globe - eventually the fans want to sing along at concerts.
